Description
The relationship between art and communities keeps getting richer in experiences that foster the access of all citizens to creative and cultural activities and that contribute to the processes of social innovation. The artistic projects with local communities are particularly effective in creating links, building wellbeing, developing learning and promoting the ownership of cultural and landscape heritage between young people and adults.

The Social Community Theatre Centre (University of Turin, Italy) organizes together with Bond Street Theatre (NY), Irondale Center (NY) and Touchstone Theatre (Pennsylvania) a conference on the role of theatre in building active communities and creating with them high quality artistic events.

The conference presents and evaluates through testimonies, reflections and workshops significant experiences in research and intervention in Europe and US. It is based on the experiences of the 30 events realized in the frame of the European Social Community Theatre Project Caravan Next.
It is open to professionals, students, citizens who would like to:
– learn more about the Social Community Theatre methodology
share their experience on community theatre
– talk about the best practices to audience development and community development
